We own an over 100 yr old homestead with a
house that had to be totally redone. We did 90% of
the work ourselves and it is a never ending project
but a labor of love. We love the area where we
live and we especially love the opportunity it gave us
to raise animals. Three years ago after reading
an article about babydolls I mentioned to my husband that I thought they were adorable and would like to have sheep someday. Before I knew what was happening a few weeks later
he located a farm in lower Michigan called Windwood Acres which the article was about and she just happened to have two ram lambs unexpectadly become available so we were on our way to pick up Ely and a ewe lamb from a farm in Illinois. When we got to the farm in Illinois she had 3 ewe lambs and no surprise to anyone who knows us all 3 came home with us.
Two years ago I quit my job as a full time medical biller at a busy specialist office to stay home and take care of the farm. I started doing fiber art and homemade soaps and bath products. We also have two pigmy goats Bo and Bella who both entertain and annoy. We adopted two dogs Maddy an airedale mix and Nellie who came to us at 6yrs old from the Michigan Pug Rescue they are both a joy. We have no children of our own but children love to come here because it's like a petting zoo here and we love having them.We love farm life even though it isn't glamarous & we wouldn't trade it for anything.
